The Team

The team is only me, Gerhard Brummer. I grew up in the Greater Kruger Regions of South Africa in an era when it was still ‘woes en leeg’, (seriously wild) – as South Africans would say. With elephants walking in the streets and leopards chased out of convenient stores. The bush-fire stories are endless and so too the legends of the only bar, at that time in the Lowveld; Hotel Fort Coepieba.

I studied at Stellenbosch University (1985 – 1994 – BA, BTh, MA, MTh) and persuade my career as a Phycologist in the Lowveld Regions and later on moved into the construction industry – building various Game Lodges in the Hoedspruit Region.

In 2004 myself (as MD) and a few partners developed a mobile Company, eventually became the first Company in South Africa to introduce Mobile Banking to the country end 2008 – just after it was successfully role out at the Bank of Scotland.

When I got married in 2005 (inside the Kruger National Park) I found that there was a lack of good mapping in the area. I there and then decided to design some maps for the region and 18 years later, almost 50 000 designing hours later  I’ve developed 36 regional and provincial maps – from the Kruger to the Cape. South African Tourism uses my maps to market South Africa to all their Tourism Nodes and Embassies across the globe. I also develop and print the annual regional and provincial maps in the Greater Kruger Regions.

Developing this web site of the Hoedspruit Region took some serious working hours and endless communication with fantastic product owners. The quality of investment in the Hoedspruit region is phenomenal. I truly want to portray the quality of facilities available for any visitor to this amazing Big 5 Safari destination.

For me it is imperative to support local and local developments because we have a moral obligation to the fauna and flora in the Greater Kruger Region. That is why I strongly support the passionate group of people from Wild Wonderful World who are dedicated in wildlife conservation projects. This is a serious issue for me and should be for everyone visiting the region. Why?

I presented a speech some time back defining the above. In 1998 I was sitting in a museum looking at black and white framed photos of rhino herds and vast herds of elephant; I mean herds of thousands of elephant. The curator passed by and I asked her where were these photos taken. She replied by telling me that the photos are of the area. I was stunned; totally stunned. I was sitting on a chair in the Franschhoek Museum (Western Cape), the epicenter of Private and Exclusive Wine Estates in Africa, with not a single elephant, rhino, lion or even an antelope in sight. Franschhoek was previously known as Olifantshoek (Elephants Corner) due to the massive migration of elephant herds through the mountain passes. This enormous transition happened within a fraction of time, only two decades of human interaction.

20 Years back there was but a few lodges in the Hoedspruit region and a simple convenient store. Today we have an international airport, private Hospital, various Wildlife Estates, over 400 Lodges in various Private Game Reserves and almost 700 000 international visitors annually.
