The Property – Greater Kruger
Tomo Safari Lodge lies inside the Balule Private Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger region. Being part of this intricate open system allows us the privilege of witnessing beautiful South African wildlife roaming and migrating freely, as nature intended. Here, there are no fences impeding the animals from entering the Kruger National Park. This open system also allows a wide variety of wildlife to visit Tomo Safari Lodge.
All year long, there is an abundance of local and migratory birds in and around Tomo Safari Lodge. Our lodge also shares its home with a wide variety of animals, including the Big 5, cheetah, kudu, wild dogs, giraffe, hippos, and many more animals can also be spotted in the areas surrounding the lodge.
Accommodation
The Lodge
- The Lodge accommodates 23 guests in 8 thatched chalets. All rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated in African design. Each chalet has its own patio. All Luxury rooms have air-con and an outdoor shower over and above the normal spacious en suite bathroom. Standard rooms have fans and a normal en-suite bathroom.
- Meals are served in the boma for a ‘dining out under the stars’ experience, and one may relax after dinner around the camp fire listening to the sounds of the African night. A thatched indoor dining room and lounge with fireplace is used for dining in the event of inclement weather.
- On either side of the indoor dining area is a thatched patio, one overlooking the swimming pool and Drakensberg mountains, the other incorporating a friendly bar area.
Game Drive Safaris and Bush Walks
- Early morning, evening game drive and walking safaris which are conducted in open 4 x 4 Safari vehicles, are included in the quoted rates.
- Walks and drives can be organised with the rangers. Sundowners can be enjoyed at many different scenic places.
Dining
- We are very proud of our Chef’s, our highly qualified and passionate chefs, at Tomo Safari Lodge. They are more than just part of the team, they are family, and enjoy nothing more than making sure our guests enjoy every meal. At Tomo, guests can enjoy a pre- game drive coffee in our breakfast and coffee bar.
- Later in the day, lunch and dinner are served on our wooden deck over looking the waterhole. Dinners are also occasionally prepared in our boma area for a more traditional experience. A romantic meal can be prepared on the deck of your room upon request.
- Please ensure that you communicate any dietary requirements at the time of your reservation. We will be happy to accommodate you.
Fun for little explorers
- All kids are invited to join us for a wide range of exciting activities with our new exciting “Tomo Bumble” program and much more!
- Our “Tomo Bumble” program is designed to provide children who are too young to join game drives with a fun and educational experience during their stay at Tomo Safari Lodge.
- On these kiddies drives, things of interest to children are pointed out, e.g. toothbrush plants, beetles, plains game etc. The Bumble safari is much shorter for the children, avoiding deliberate close encounters with dangerous game and making the experience more tactile and varied in order to keep their
attention. - The information on the drive is aimed at the age/s of the children on the drive. The “Tomo Bumble” is included in the children’s special rate. The drive is done by our highly qualified guides and is conducted after breakfast for about an hour.

Rates: Based on Fully Inclusive
The fully inclusive rates are inclusive of accommodation, morning game drive, late afternoon / evening game drive, breakfast, lunch, dinner, tea and coffee and selected SA beverages.
- Children: 0 – 2 years stay free, 3 – 12 years pay 50% of the sharing rate
- Rates excludes: Telephone calls, curios, optional excursions, items of a personal nature. Guide and lodge staff gratuities, guided walking safaris. Bar account including all spirits, wines, beers, soft drinks. Conservation Levy and gate fees.
